Fever Dream (A walking tour of historic Lower East Side cultural locations, many now long gone, with Bradley, Lary, and Katherine. Phill regrettably could not make it. Tim, Toni, Jon, Avishag, and other friends both old and new accompany us. A ritualistic performance involving a duck call, a Satan puppet, mirrors, and bells reclaims a building. Someone lived here; I don’t know who. The performer is unknown. A poem is read, “on this stoop a prophet sung.” Lary nods in agreement. A gallery is explored. Images of the dead abound in Bullet Space. A cat is loved. Timothy is exactly what we needed as he sits upon the stairs. A garden is enjoyed and conversation occurs. The video is accidentally in slow-motion. Mr. Disco makes films. A window is bricked off. “It created a paradigm of civilization itself… starting with a single-celled organism.” An extension cord plays a duet with the birds. A sidewalk is traversed in a straight path, as closely as possible to the wall. A stranger is circumvented as he looks in wonder. “I loved it!” Phill is able to join us, as dinner is eaten and wine is drunk. A rollie is smoked. “If they didn’t pay me at all, I would’ve shown up there.” A film is conceived as a music box serenades. “Just cut it up randomly.” Pastrami sandwiches. “This is important...” A woman carries books in a peculiar manner throughout the day. Urine must be made... a hotel sanctuary! Documentation is made. “The fever dream continues[…] I feel like I’m the extra on the set of a documentary, but nobody told me that that’s what I was doing today”. A sparkler threatens a camcorder. I cannot stop sneezing. The sunlight is so bright. ACHOO syndrome casts the eyes of COVID fears upon me.)
